Therapy for Relationship Self-Doubt (Including R-OCD)
Centering Queer, Trans, and Questioning People
You want to enjoy relationships and dating, but sometimes your mind won't stop spinning.
Maybe you keep analyzing whether you feel enough attraction, love, or commitment.
You might have doubts about a partner, like, “Are they emotionally available? Do our values align?”
No matter how much you journal, talk to friends, or scroll Reddit, the anxiety never fully quiets down.
If you’re questioning your sexuality or gender, the doubt can feel even more intense. You might not know if it’s a gut feeling you should listen to, or “just anxiety”.
The thoughts can show up at the worst times, like on dates or in quiet moments, leaving you disconnected or overwhelmed.
You may also feel guilty, like you’re betraying someone you care about by having these judgments and fears.
You’re not a bad person for having these thoughts. They likely show up because your relationships matter to you.
Relief is possible.
For LGBTQ+ folks, self-doubt can have layers.
You may have been taught not to trust your feelings and desires by your family or religion.
You may also feel internal pressure to prove queer and trans people can have great relationships, or that coming out was “worth it”.
Experiences like family trauma, racial trauma, or moving through a world that isn’t built for your neurotype can make it even harder to tune into your inner knowing and find clarity.
You’re not alone in this experience.
It’s possible to cut through the noise of doubt and learn to truly trust yourself.
You deserve to feel grounded in your relationships and fully present for connections.
Therapy can help.
